Astroscale U.S. Announces Board of Directors

DENVER, March 22, 2024Astroscale U.S., a leading provider of on-orbit services and logistics across all orbits, announces the formation of its new Board of Directors. Current board members, Ron Lopez, President, Dr. Clare Martin, Executive Vice President, and Becky Yoder, Senior Vice President of Finance and Business Operations, are joined by three distinguished leaders who have extensive experience in the public and private sectors, particularly in the space, defense and national security arenas. These new directors are: The Honorable Dr. William Schneider, Jr., who serves as Chairman, The Honorable Mira R. Ricardel and Lt. Gen. (Retired) Henry A. “Trey” Obering III.  

The Board provides governance and strategic oversight to the Astroscale U.S. leadership team as the company continues to provide on-orbit servicing solutions to commercial operators around the world while expanding its U.S. government business. In addition to their fiduciary responsibilities, Schneider, Ricardel and Obering III also serve as Proxy Holders representing the interests of Astroscale U.S.’ parent company, Astroscale Holdings, headquartered in Japan.

The Astroscale U.S. Board members are:  

Dr. William Schneider, Jr. is a Washington-based economist and defense analyst. In addition to years of private sector advisory work, he worked in several branches of government, including the Departments of Defense and State, where he served as the Under Secretary of State for Security Assistance, Science and Technology. In addition, Dr. Schneider was the Associate Director for National Security and International Affairs in the Office of Management and Budget and held staff positions in the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate. He also served as Chairman of the Defense Science Board. 

Trey Obering is a Booz Allen Hamilton Senior Advisor and former Executive Vice President and Partner based in McLean, Virginia. He brings to his clients more than 35 years of experience in the U.S. Air Force, where he managed major defense programs and budgets, serving in engineering positions for NASA’s Space Shuttle program, and retiring as a Lieutenant General and Director of the U.S. Missile Defense Agency. 

Mira Ricardel has extensive experience in both the public and private sectors, serving in senior government positions including Deputy National Security Advisor, Under Secretary of Commerce for Export Administration and Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Policy, as well as Vice President for Business Development at The Boeing Company. She brings deep expertise in the juncture of technology and national security.
