Ron Lopez, President and Managing Director of Astroscale U.S., Selected to Join National Space Council Users’ Advisory Group

Denver, Colorado, December 16, 2022 – Today, the Office of Vice President Kamala Harris announced the selection of Ron Lopez, President and Managing Director of Astroscale U.S., to the National Space Council Users’ Advisory Group (NSpC UAG). Revived in 2017 under the National Space Council, the UAG exists to “ensure that the interests of industries and other non-Federal entities involved in space activities, including in particular commercial entities, are adequately represented in the National Space Council.”

Lopez Ron Cropped HiRes 800x800“I am honored that Vice President Harris has selected me to serve on the National Space Council’s Users’ Advisory Group with such an esteemed group of peers,” said Lopez. “I started my aerospace career in the United States Air Force and have served in roles from national security space to shaping multilateral partnerships with allied nations, including living in Japan for more than 20 years,” added Lopez. “I am excited to contribute my expertise to the NSpC UAG for the long-term safety, security and sustainability of the orbital environment. By protecting the space environment, we’re protecting national security, mission flexibility, scientific knowledge, and the vast growth potential of U.S. space economy and future workforce. I look forward to contributing to the goals of the United States through the UAG and thank the National Space Council for the opportunity to serve.”
